Kirkcudbright (pronounced "kir-COO-bree" - really) is the town in Scotland from which my ancestor James Selkirk emigrated around 1760. He fought in the New York militia in the Revolutionary War, and had 10 children. As far as I know, all the Selkirks in the US are descended from him. There's a town named Selkirk, outside of Albany, New York, founded by his offspring.
By contrast, every other place name in North America named "Selkirk" refers to Thomas Douglas, 5th Earl of Selkirk, also from Kirkcudbright, but no blood relation.
As to who I am, I am.
I've reached the age where things are measured in decades. I'm in two relationships, one for 34 years, and the other for 27 years. I've my hair long for about 30+ years. And I still have many of the same clothes.
About friending and such: I rarely check the info page to see who might have friended (or un-friended) me. If you want me to read your LJ, drop me a line. If you don't care to read my LJ anymore, it's okay. We all do this for our own amusement, eh?
