what i done did with my weekend, eh

Friday, instead of the usual date night activities with lyonesse (aikido, hanging out until we fall over shortly thereafter), I got to play emergency backup marriage counselor in a polyamory intervention. It seems to have been productive, but was draining just to witness.

Saturday, some xmas shopping, and an unexpected dinner invitation. Good friends, recently back from California, but unfortunately an hour away. They made an eggplant dish that even Francie liked.

Sunday, waiting for the snow to come. I finished making the shoe rack I started during last weekend's snowstorm, only to find out that it was still too small for all of our shoes (something I could have determined by...oh, measuring, perhaps). Gotta make another level. I used scrap mahogany from lyonesse's stairs and/or decks; grabbed the longest pieces I could find, but didn't grab enough pieces.

I blew off both riding and the Arisia concom meeting on account of the snow, which dis-obligingly didn't start until about 4. Oh well. Made lasagna. Mmm, lasagna.

Although Kylie goes to a private school, they take their snow cues from the Andover public schools. The announcement this morning was that school would be delayed by two hours, which is how long it took me to clear the driveway anyway. (Rain-saturated snow is heavy.) When we got there, it turned out that there had been a bus accident, and Andover decided to close all schools for the day.

Picked up a copy of Spirited Away, so the day wasn't a total loss. I heart Miyazaki.
