June 18: Sherbrooke
Jul. 8th, 2008 12:05 amSherbrooke Village is a living history museum of village life in the mid 19th to early 20th centuries. The twist is that it's not really a recreation - it's all in situ (all but 2 of the buildings in the museum are on their original foundations), some of the houses within the museum district are still occupied, the courthouse was in use until 2000, the Masonic Hall and Legion hall are still in use, etc. Only the furnishings, tools, etc have been back-dated.
We ended up spending even more time here (6 hours) than Louisbourg (5 hours).
