Jul. 18th, 2011 01:39 amI regret nothing about the weekend, but it took pretty much the entire weekend.
I have to prepare a demo for IETF next week, and that should be my highest priority.
I'm also putting together the Worldcon pocket program, which goes to press pretty much right after IETF, and which needs a lot of work before then. So that's also my highest priority.
Fortunately, the medical situation is no longer a highest-priority crisis, so I went out there yesterday at my leisure. Dad had been transferred from the hospital to rehab, then back to the hospital for cardiac monitoring and other stuff.
While I was out there, I introduced my brother and nephew to roller derby. Unusually, they have men's derby out there. Also unusually, they interleaved halves of the men's and women's bouts (rather than running one full bout, then the other). They also shortened the bouts and the breaks, probably because of the heat (no A/C). I can't let this go without reporting the embarrassing score of 292-40 in the men's bout, which was even more lopsided than the 260-24 in the last Boston/New York bout.
Today started with a 5 year old's birthday party, which was awesome. Then the Women's World Cup final, which was exciting although ultimately disappointing. Finally, the Harry Potter film, which was about as good as it could be.
