little red rooster
Sep. 25th, 2006 11:43 pmTest-driving a new userpic (from the flag of the Walloon Region of Belgium).
Raining Saturday, so no riding. Spent the remainder of the weekend in Newport, visiting Francie's dad. Arrived too late for Saturday's polo match (to say nothing of the kids' intro lesson).
Sunday, went to the Green Animals topiary garden (which impressed Kylie less than it ought), and a nearby corn maze (where she had enough fun for all of us). See the blip at the bottom center of the picture? That's the concession stand at the entrance. The corn is about 10 ft tall, planted rather densely and not at all in rows, and once you're past the first turn it all looks the same. She wanted to run run run, and it didn't seem a good idea to let her out of sight, so I followed in my Sunday-go-to-brunch clothes, and it was hot and muggy, and we were exhausted by the time we got out.
Got home too late to go riding, but I went this after work today (first time in over a week). Cheyenne is turning into really quite a good ring horse, very responsive to leg cues. But still, what makes him happiest is to run run run like he's got alligators on his ass. And then it takes him a while to calm down again to the point where he'll listen to things like leg cues. Oh well, better than than a horse who doesn't want to move at all.
