Oh gawd, now I love you guys all the more. At one point, years ago at the first of kirkcudbright and gatewaygirl's parties I'd ever attended (having recently moved into town), I was being hugged rather enthusiastically and said, "No no! Think 'Delicate Flower'". He said, "You mean like Flora Fauna?" and I said, "I mean EXACTLY like Flora Fauna!!!". I knew I was home.

I'm embarrassed I got the quote wrong though - I blame it being 2-3 years since I've seen it.

I have the laserdisc of this, but it's slightly edited (when Botch is running out of the control room, he growls "oh shit!", but in my version that's sort of muddled out)

Hm, Zach will be 8 in a week. I wonder if it's time to watch that with him. Hmm.. I sense a movie night.

I would luurve to see the full version again. I know lyonesse has an edited version, but it just ain't the same.

All I have is a tape recording. Done by securing the tape deck to the TV speaker when the movie was originally being shown on cable. Yes, it was the 80's. I've listened to the recording countless times over the years and have pretty much memorised it.

I (hopefully) sense other movie nights. Maybe when J and I are back in town for awhile... he's never seen it. Yeah, I know.

There are three versions I know of: full-length clean, laserdisc (same as clean, but slightly shortened; cuts in a musical number, the bowling-for-Rattatouie sequence, a few other snips), and "unexpigated," or "blue," which as far as I can tell came mostly from cable airings in the 1980s. "blue" is the same length as "clean," but has different dialogue in a variety of sequences. (Samples, blue: "I want to smell your wind!"/"Ohhhh, it's aliiiive..." vs. samples, clean: "Make the world safe for nightmares!"/"...and I'll have Rudy finish you.")

I have at least two of these: laserdisc and unexpigated/blue, the latter on SVHS. I think I have full-length clean, too, tho' the quality is not good. My copy of "blue" is already about fourth generation, but I had access to some video equipment (a TBC, some other stuff) which let me pull it back together a pretty good bit. My copy of full-length clean is... I don't remember. But I don't think it's good.

The laserdisc, of course, is pristine.
