Yesterday afternoon, iabervon and I tested for black belt in Kokikai Aikido. Then we drove home from Princeton, stopping only for a celebratory dinner at a rest stop on the Garden State Parkway.
Hey, long time no see (hear from/about/etc)! I had no idea you read my stuff.
Anyway, as I told the relatives (and may post at more length here), it's not the sort of test that's graded, but you get critiqued by anyone and everyone there (and there were about 150 people on the mat at the time, half of them black belts). You don't get put up for testing until your instructors feel you're ready, so a bad test reflects badly on the instructors, so you want do well by the dojo as well as for your own sake.

It could have been better, but it failed to suck.
