5k

Today I ran my first official 5k. I did my first measured 5k in my neighborhood two weeks ago, but I'd been doing speed intervals on the treadmill throughout the fall and winter, so I felt pretty prepared. Ran with friends as a social thing, so we took a few short walking breaks, and generally kept the pace casual. I suppose it still qualifies as a Personal Best. :)

I'm already doing 4.5 mi in training, so now I'm looking at upcoming 5m, 10k, and longer events. Also looking at the trails in the state forest, thinking about when they will pass beyond snowy/icy, beyond muddy, to something runnable. I may have accidentally become a Runner.

If you're looking for a really good 5 or 10k, try the Groton Road Race. (http://www.grotonroadrace.com/) I've run it a couple times, and have volunteered for the past I don't-know-how-many years. It's a very scenic course and the people who organize it are really at the top of their game.

Finally catching up on LJ...it was good to hear about the race from you in person too. And about how best (and how not) to run...

I'll observe again how cool it is that you're doing what you're doing. Might just be Inspirational.
