running log
May. 13th, 2014 07:55 pmBecause I haven't done one of these for a while.
5.95 mi in 48:10 (8:05/mi avg), not bad. This was my now-customary "around-the-block" on the roads through the state forest. I was enjoying the cooler weather today, and decided to go out after my noon CrossFit workout. It felt good, but I did nap afterwards.
Saturday, I did 5.64 mi in 47:55, which may sound about the same, but an 8:30 pace feels a lot slower. Usually, I hit a groove a couple miles in, where my heart rate actually drops a little, and I feel like I could do this all day. (It never lasts, of course, but it's great while it lasts.) This time, I was struggling the whole way. I don't know if it was the heat, or general lack of mojo, but I had to stop and walk twice, which I never have to do anymore. If it was the heat, it doesn't bode well for the actual summer. I'm already pretty minimal in terms of clothing. :)
