Mar. 19th, 2004 11:32 pmFrancie is in England for the week. I got home from aikido camp around 10:30 Sunday night, and she left around 5:00 Monday morning. She spent a couple days in London meeting a friend for the first time, then off to Cornwall and Devon, then back to London tomorrow.
I'm looking at flight info for my own UK trip, and waffling. The bike ride starts on the 30th of April. Flying out on the 29th, even early in the morning, would put me in Glasgow way late at night, with my bike still in a box. If it was any other day of the year, I'd fly out on the 28th. But not on my birthday. Not on my 40th birthday. Not even on British Airways, which serves free beer. So it looks like the 27th, and I'll spend my birthday with my drinking buddies in Glasgow. That's okay, isn't it?
I'm not at Lunacon. And I'm okay with that. I went to a couple in Tarrytown, the one in Stamford, and the first few at the Escher. But I don't need to drive down to NY to see the friends I'm somehow failing to see up here. And I drove to NJ last weekend, so road-trip allure is definitely gone.
Instead, I picked up a chicken at the local poultry farm, and had a nice roast chicken dinner with just Kylie. It was special in a really simple way, supremely tasty, and I've got leftovers for a couple days.
Gotta clean the house before Francie gets home...
I'm installing the newest (hopefully stable) CDs of our fine product (Iteration 4, Freeze 14), and it's taking beyond forever. Granted, I'm installing over the VPN from a file server in California, but it's running less than 1% utilization of both CPU and network. I started it at 5:17pm. It started copying files at 6:03pm. It's now 11:30pm, and it's at 19% of 560M. That's less than 6Kb/sec.
