So we're going to Worldcon in Glasgow. We got our memberships 3 years ago at ConJosé. We got our hotel rooms a last year at N4. We just don't have plane tickets. They're expensive, and are getting more expensive, like $2500 for the 3 of us.

So, my well-travelled friends, what should we do? Pay the procrastination tax, or wait and see if we can get a better deal? Is there even likely to be a better deal? Bear in mind that there are 3 of us, it's now 4 weeks out, and most (if not all) flight from Boston to Glasgow have at least one stopover.

You might want to check into charters or try priceline. Fares to Europe are high this summer--lots of people are traveling. Other options--I think I've seen some good fares to Ireland, and then take a hop over. I know I saw a good deal *somewhere* recently.

I don't think that waiting will help a fare come down. What it will do is IF there are seats you might be able to pick them up from a consolidator. Unfortunately, flights over the Atlantic are very full this summer (doing two trips myself this summer, and J doing three, this has been An Issue.)

Good luck!

Waiting will almost certainly not help - at least, not without unacceptable additional levels of risk. Have fun!

Unfortunately, at this point prices are likely to only go up _and_ you may not get seat at all -- I'm in paris now, and there were ZERO empty seats on the plane.

Have a great time at Worldcon.

I would definitely try booking your legs separately. Book the big hop to London or Dublin or Amsterdam and then hop EasyJet or RyanAir from there--they usually have fares around L20, sometimes cheaper.

But no, don't wait.
