Went to the New England Bantam Club swap meet this morning, and came home with one bantam (duh) barred rock (a pretty breed with black and white stripes across the feathers) pullet (young female). We didn't get a silkie, a red cochin, or any of a number of other birds we looked at. Nor did we get an adorable black Polish dwarf rabbit, because Francie is still allergic to them. But we did meet a local (Andover) breeder of quail, so the next time one of the hens goes broody, we may be able to get a few eggs for her to hatch.

The MSPCA farm has a bunch of birds that are currently in quarantine, that will be available in the next week or so. So we'll probably get a couple more then.

Quail! Ohhh, they're SOOOOO adorable. I want to see quail. (And hold them if they are tame enough.)

Here is a classic example of LJ's superiority to FB: via Facebook I couldn't possibly have discovered that you acquired a chicken on my wedding day. (Okay, that's partly because Facebook didn't exist yet in 2005, but you get the point.)
