chickens (well, chicken)
Sep. 18th, 2005 11:55 pmWent to the New England Bantam Club swap meet this morning, and came home with one bantam (duh) barred rock (a pretty breed with black and white stripes across the feathers) pullet (young female). We didn't get a silkie, a red cochin, or any of a number of other birds we looked at. Nor did we get an adorable black Polish dwarf rabbit, because Francie is still allergic to them. But we did meet a local (Andover) breeder of quail, so the next time one of the hens goes broody, we may be able to get a few eggs for her to hatch.
The MSPCA farm has a bunch of birds that are currently in quarantine, that will be available in the next week or so. So we'll probably get a couple more then.
