Weekend in Portland. Francie's mother is planning to move to an assisted living community in Orono, a couple hours further away from us. She on the waiting list for the Orono place, and hasn't put her condo on the market yet, so the move may not happen for a while, but when it does, it should be quick. So anyway, we're doing the family thing while it's still fairly relaxed.




The side door of an Irish pub that (sadly) wasn't serving when we were hungry.


Mum-in-law's condo is on a pier, next to an active lobster pier. They aren't allowed to go out on Sunday, so it was pretty much deserted. It was drizzling, and it was impossible to avoid getting rain on the lens; the pix are pretty good despite that, but there are the occasional blurry and/or bright spots.


Sunday or no, some of the traps have spent more time on land than in the water.


And some have spent more time in the water.


Boards. Nothing more to it than that.


This is not an overhead shot. This was a honking pile of rope, about 3 ft tall and 5 ft wide.

An elderly relation of ours was quite happy at the complex on State St. in Portland, but I understand there is a waiting list.

She looked at places in Portland, but she liked the place in Orono better. (I haven't seen any of them, so I can't say.) Francie's sister lives in Orono, so mum would be near her daughter and grandchildren, versus everyone having to travel to visit her.

I like it when non-macro pictures get posted to texture (I know, I should be less lame and do so myself). I especially liked the door and the rope.
