
Given that a) I don't own any firearms, and b) this is a chunk of maple, my plan is to scrape off the engraved part of the plaque, and use it as a cutting board. Or if the engraved bit is heat-resistant, just use it as a hot pad.
It's not that I object to a bit of executive recognition, but this was given to every member of the engineering organization, regardless of their role or contribution to this release. It's so de-personalized as to be meaningless. It's also incredibly unimaginative. Anyone who thinks programmers put any value on a plaque hasn't spent enough time with programmers.
So yeah, props to us, but I'm going to make my own value out of this prop.
