The party went well, but attendance was rather lighter than usual, I guess because of competition from another party in town. But this was actually a good thing, because I got to spend more time with the guests who were there. I had a long conversation about martial arts, and I met a fabulous and fascinating red-head named Lori. Actually, she insists that we met at a previous party, and I have no reason to doubt her, but it must have been a handshake and little more.

I like having a lot of friends, and having them all over at the same time, but it gets a bit overwhelming. At our larger parties (e.g. New Year's), I tend to seek out the least crowded room, and/or spend my time playing host. So I miss seeing most of the guests, or just say hello/goodbye. We could go back to having dinner parties, except it would never occur to me to invite near-total strangers like Lori, and then see what I'd miss.
