Nov. 10th, 2003 10:10 pmYeah yeah, no updates in absolute days.
This was mondo aikido weekend. MIT has been hosting a November seminar with Sensei for the past 4 years, which is how long I've been practicing. I went to 4 classes over 3 days. Missed the Saturday evening class because my dad was in town for a medical conference, and staying with us. This meant I was also able to see the eclipse - cool.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that one of the visiting black belts, an ex-Marine and serious bad-ass, was actually really good to work with - a lot of positive feedback, and specific corrections to specific problems with my technique. Some of the black belts seem to prefer to work only with other black belts, and are less than fully helpful when working with lower ranks. No big surprise - people are people.
The other accomplishment was setting up the router/hub/wireless acess point/dhcp server/nat box/firewall thingy. My dad was sleeping in the office/guest room thingy, and we were able not only to use wireless from our bedroom, but also to shut down the FreeBSD box that used to be the router/firewall/nat box/dhcp server thingy. I know, it's a cheap thrill, but it's my thrill.
