(Sadly, our own bushes have been a total bust this year. These are from Turkey Hill Farm in Haverhill.)
And then we went to Nevins Farm to look at the button quail (properly, coturnix quail).

Here's a gray one. They're really quite wee.

And of course we had to visit the chickenerie.
Some young hippie with a leghorn rooster.

Some old hippie with an Americauna pullet.

And the duck who couldn't be bothered to get up for anything.

Date: 2012-07-23 03:43 pm (UTC)raised ducks successfully for ages, so other than a body of water, i imagine it's a little similar. ours were "free range". they were everywhere on the property.
