happy T (cell) day

My father (age 79) has multi-site non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and will be starting chemo next week. (I don't actually know if it's a T cell type - I just couldn't pass up the subject line.)

This is just information, not a call for sympathy. It may the matter-of-fact way he presented it, and moved on to the subject of desert; it may be my overall lack of closeness with my family; it may be cancer fatigue (e.g. Francie's mother's recent colon and lung cancers); but I took this announcement with the same detached concern as the news of my brother's knee surgery. I'm still trying to figure out what to make of all that.

depending on the type, it may be pretty curable. alternatively, at his age and being a dr, he may have just sort of already resigned himself to mortality.
